Project brief

Designed a product to facilitate waking for a student in a shared dorm environment.

Development

This was a quick 1.5 week project, so I quickly defined my goal to address common dorm room waking problems.

1. Waking your roommate.
2. Forgetting to set your alarm.
3. Having bad sleeping posture, and waking up with pains.
4. Accidentally shutting off the alarm while snoozing.

Solution

The knee pillow promotes good sleeping habits (when held in between or under your knees) while waking the student via vibration without disturbing the roommate(s).

The vibrating pebble syncs with the student's cell phone alarm Ñ as most students already use their cell as an alarm Ñ and the alarm is activated when the pebble is removed from the dock and inserted in the pillow. To snooze, one rolls the treads on the pebble, and to turn the alarm off, you return the pebble to the dock.
